چکیده

We present the critical conditions for hot trans-fast magnetohydrodynamical (MHD) flows in a stationary and axisymmetric black-hole magnetosphere. To accrete onto the black hole, the MHD flow injected from a plasma source with low velocity must pass through the fast magnetosonic point after passing through the “inner” or “outer” Alfvén point. We find that a trans-fast MHD accretion solution related to the inner Alfvén point is invalid when the hydrodynamical effects on the MHD flow dominate at the magnetosonic point, while the other accretion solution related to the outer Alfvén point is invalid when the total angular momentum of the MHD flow is seriously large. When both regimes of the accretion solutions are valid in the black hole magnetosphere, we can expect the transition between the two regimes. The variety of these solutions would be important in many highly energetic astrophysical situations. Subject headings: accretion — black hole physics — MHD — relativity

MHD Shock Conditions for Accreting Plasma onto Kerr Black Holes - I

We extend the work by Appl and Camenzind (1988) for special relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) jets, to fully general relativistic studies of the standing shock formation for accreting MHD plasma in a rotating, stationary and axisymmetric black hole magnetosphere. All the postshock physical quantities are expressed in terms of the relativistic compression ratio, which can be obtained in ter...

Standing Shocks in Trans-magnetosonic Accretion Flows onto a Black Hole

Fast and slow magnetosonic shock formation is presented for stationary and axisymmetric magnetohydrodynamical (MHD) accretion flows onto a black hole. The shocked black hole accretion solution must pass through magnetosonic points at some locations outside and inside the shock location. We analyze critical conditions at the magnetosonic points and the shock conditions. Then, we show the restric...

Collimation of Highly Variable Magnetohydrodynamic Disturbances around a Rotating Black Hole

We have studied non-stationary and non-axisymmetric perturbations of a magnetohydrodynamic accretion onto a rotating (Kerr) black hole. Assuming that the magnetic field dominates the plasma accretion, we find that the accretion suffers a large radial acceleration resulting from the Lorentz force, and becomes highly variable compared with the electromagnetic field there. In fact, we further find...

Magnetically dominated accretion onto a black hole: Collimation of highly variable fluid disturbances(∗)

— We study a magnetohydrodynamic accretion onto a rotating (Kerr) black hole. To begin with, we solve the critical condition so that the flow may pass smoothly the fast-magnetosonic point and derive the position explicitly. It is found that cylindrical field line geometry is not allowed close to the horizon due to the critical condition. Then, we consider a nonstationary and nonaxisymmetric per...

0 v 1 8 O ct 2 00 3 Force - Free Magnetosphere of an Accretion Disk — Black Hole System

In this paper I study the magnetosphere of a black hole that is connected by the magnetic field to a thin conducting Keplerian disk. I consider the case of a Schwarzschild black hole only, leaving the more interesting but difficult case of a Kerr black hole to a future study. I assume that the magnetosphere is ideal, stationary, axisymmetric, and force-free. I pay a special attention to the two...
